KEY TO FOLLOW CHRIST
Luke 9:23
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

A lot of people desire to follow Christ. They want to, they wish to, they even hope to follow Christ but refuse to accept the key which makes it easy.
Self-denial is a major key to following him. "If anyone (man) will come after me let him deny himself". You cannot deny yourself until you have control over yourself.
Self-denial cuts across a lot of things. The things that give your flesh pleasure. If you can't deny, you can't follow, and if you can't follow you can't fulfill destiny.
Gen. 25: 24-29. Let us take the case study of Esau. He could not deny himself of his lunch, no control over the flesh. His appetite was his control tower, no denial. Some people are like him so they cannot fast and cannot follow him.
Another area of self-denial is in the area of immorality - some have no control over their sexual appetite. Their emotions control them just like Samson, he could not deny himself and hence could not follow and he had a crash.
What is that thing you cannot resist, look beloved, it will resist you.
You cannot just follow the master by desire, no not at all, but there is a key you need to operate and that is self-denial - Denial of the pleasures of the flesh. The spirit and the flesh don't work together. The spirit lusts against the flesh and the flesh against the spirit. Gal.
You are to follow him, he is a spirit, you must convert your flesh to spirit to be able to follow him - John.4:
God is a Spirit and until you are a Spirit you cannot join the class of his followers (worshippers). My counsel is that you give yourself to the things of God.
CONFESSION
I WILL FOLLOW JESUS NO MATTER WHAT COMES MY WAY. I HAVE MADE UP MY MIND TO FOLLOW GOD'S WAY.
PRAYER
As the dear pants for the water brook so my soul longs for you oh Lord. Let your zeal consume me.
PROPHETIC DECLARATION
I decree a total separation from every form of distraction that is distracting you from following God in Jesus name.
